'Trapped in a Dreadful Dream': Relatives of Missing Teenagers Desperately Seek Information After Ski Resort Inferno

The loved ones of teens unaccounted for after a deadly blaze at a bar in a Swiss ski resort are enduring an excruciating period of uncertainty for confirmed information and pleading for information about their loved ones online.

The inferno devastated the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the mountains of the Valais region, in the small hours of New Year's Day. Circulated video show the ceiling catching alight as beverages with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Emergency services have warned that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the fatalities of the fire, which resulted in the death of numerous partygoers and injured another scores more. A spokesperson said on Friday that 113 of the those hurt have been identified, with efforts ongoing to identify the other six.

In the meantime, loved ones have been posting on online platforms to request information about their loved ones who were at the bar that evening.

Heartbreaking Pleas for the Missing

The location of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, 16, are currently unknown, according to an public plea from his family.

The resident of a town near the city, explained to a publication that she had gone back to Lausanne to see if he was in the medical facility, while his father did the same in the capital, but did not locate him.

"I'm living a nightmare, a nightmare. The options are finding my son in the morgue, or I find him in a serious state. Words cannot describe it," she stated.

She explained that some of his companions had been located with burns covering nearly half their bodies. "There are no words; they experienced hell."

The Italian foreign ministry has confirmed that six of its citizens have not been located.

Teenage sportsman Emanuele Galeppini, 16, was last heard from around the turn of the new year on December 31st, his father said.

Included in that group is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage promising athlete, who hailed from Italy but now living in the UAE.

The national sporting body has stated that he is deceased, without mentioning the fire, honoring a "talented young man who embodied dedication and true sportsmanship."

His parent, reportedly stated that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around the new year. An representative has indicated that a formal confirmation of his death is still pending.

Other Cases

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is likewise unaccounted for. His mother told reporters that he had been on vacation but had gone out with friends and found himself at the bar.

"Someone with him told me they ran away after the fire broke out and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a specific moment he lost sight of him," she said, adding he had been wearing a identifiable gold chain.
